Just want to say how much I respect Barbara for her willingness to
share
this kind of hardwon experience with the rest of us, for our benefit and
that of our horses. I think it is hard enough for most of us to admit
mistakes and learn from them--to generously offer the knowledged gained to
others, without ego or excuses, takes an exceptional person. Thank you,
 Barbara!

I agree. How old were these horses when the injuries occurred? I have a
couple of up and coming youngsters and would prefer to learn from somebody
else's experiences! Right now , I'm on the track of realllly long slow
distance before they get to move out. Can that type of conservatism
(chicken) prevent injuries? (of course, the horse would always prefer to do
the warp-speed trot and damn the torpedos!). Everybody else's experience
would be enlightening.
