I saw my "other" vet in the grocery store tonight and talked to him a
bit. He is familiar with Bugs. He doubted the diagnosis because the
other vet didn't do a block, only took x-rays. He is going to look over
the films and give me a second opinion. What other "specific
symptomology" are you talking about?

In regards to Tom's question about hoofs; Bugs feet were O.K. but I
noticed that I let his toes get a little long. I'm so fussy about
shoeing but it was an honest oversight and it is amazing how fast it
happens. Well, anyway, the vet measured his angles at 49 degrees. To me
that is too sloping especially with his upright pasterns. The vet said
they were fine but I changed them anyway. Even before I heard back about
the X-rays I had my shoer out and we made drastic changes. I have to say
his feet, never looked better. Very balanced. Steeper angle.Shorter
toes. We ended putting on a wedge shoe and it really helps with the
angles and I hope helps relieve pressure on the navicular bone. The new
shoes have been on 3 days and today was the first day that he trotted a
little bit (loose) and I have to say that he moves better in the front
then I have ever seen him. No more toe landing. My goal is to get him
back into Sneakers.

I have a more positive outlook about his prognosis after reading some
private comments. Maybe, all is not lost.

Lauren
