endurance clinic?

Could I have a show of hands, please?  How many people would be interested
in attending a full one-day endurance seminar at Cal Poly Pomona (which is
in So Cal) to benefit the Pacific South team?  This is still in the planning
stage, but probably Robert Bray PhD and I would talk a fair amount on
different aspects of applied nutrition, Dr. Wickler PhD, DVM would talk on
managing legs, tendons and maybe muscle injuries, the on-campus shoer Mike
Savoldi (who is apparently well-respected) will talk about shoeing
strategies, a VERY good equine chiropractor will demonstrate what
chiropractic and muscle relaxation work (some of which can be done by the
owner) can do for the distance horse.  He's also pretty good at talking
about saddle fitting to avoid back soreness, so maybe we'll do a
demonstration on that.  And we'll probably do a demonstration of gait
analysis and video diagnostics on the high-speed treadmill (if you've never
seen one of these, they're very cool).  None of the speakers will be anyone
that has something to sell you or any other axe to grind, so the lectures
aren't going to turn into commercials about why you should be feeding
Natural Glo or Equine Junior or whatever.  We might open up the patio to
endurance vendors, though, I need to check Cal Poly's rules about that.
We'll probably end the day with a tri-tip barbecue.

A full day including the barbecue will probably run maybe $40, or somewhere
in that neighborhood, possibly with a discount for couples or something like
that.

We don't have a date yet, but will pick a weekend that doesn't interfere
with rides within a couple hundred miles, or anything really big like Tevis.
I suspect it would probably be towards the end of May or into June sometime.

Show of hands, please? (and any other suggestions of what you'd be
interested in seeing or hearing would be appreciated as well).
