Sticky Situation...Needs Sensible Solvent

I don't know many things, but I know that BEFORE one can master a horse, one
MUST master themself. Obviously, the rider you've sketched for us needs
(MUST) understand that. She WANTS to be a good rider, WANTS the companionship
of riding a trail with horsey-folks, WANTS to ride a horse....but her
inability to admit and then correct HER shortcomings is preventing her
enjoyment of that which she seeks.
I would help her. I would help her horse out of its STICKY SITUATION...a
rider who needs help.
I would love to cuss her out and tell her that she has no business in the
company of a horse and other horses/riders....but, that would not help the
poor horse who's stuck with her.
    Do it for the horse.
Master yourself, then master the horse (it ONLY works in that order).
Tell her. Tell her, "Learn MORE about the horse (we all can), and the
horse will TEACH YOU ABOUT YOURSELF."
If she resents your attempts to help her and her horse, wish her "luck"
and then in no uncertain terms, make her understand that WE ALL GET THE HORSE
WE MAKE.
    Luck to you, too.
