AERC International News - April

From Lori Stewart:

AERC INTERNATIONAL
APRIL '99

1999 Pan American Endurance Championship Update

The PAC August 4th - 8th, 1999 will showcase the sport of endurance riding
in conjunction with the Pan Am Games. The ride is scheduled for an "off"
day during the Pan American Games headquartered 75 miles from the endurance
site to allow the press ample opportunity to cover the endurance event.
The trail for the PAC consists of five loops which all return to the main
camp for vet checks. The loops vary in length from 24 miles to less than 10
miles. Most of the trail is 2 track with relatively firm footing. There
are some areas of loose sand on the 2 track. The trail travels through one
section of sand dunes, which are relatively steep and have deep sand.
This section is only a couple of miles in length. The trail will travel
along beside a road in the fields for approximately 5 miles for the public
to have a view of the race in progress. There will be water tanks on the
trail at least every 8 miles.

The event has won approval to permit open-air paddock stabling instead of
traditional box stalls. Specific instructions are included in the event
nvitation sent to each zone's contact person. The endurance organizing
committee also recently received approval to invite 12 horse/rider teams per
zone instead of the traditional 6 per zone. At the AERC Convention the AERC
International committee voted to allow each zone to act independently.

Zones may send the number allowed when nominations opened or send up to 12
horse/rider teams as recently approved for this event. As of March 8th the
zones had not announced their decisions for this event. Please contact your
one representatives for further
in formation.

Great sponsorship programs are available along with a raffle to help raise
money for this event. Any profit from the PAC will be put back into Spruce
Woods Park for development of another equestrian campground. Vendors are
also invited to showcase their trail riding related goods at the PAC trade
show, which runs from August 4th through August 8th. For further
information please contact Myna Cryderman at 204-534-2390 or fax
204-534-2257. Email: mcryderman@techplus.com
