Bit Hanger Question/tack hacks

Hello...I've been looking at bit hangers, the kind that snap on to halter/bridle combinations, and was wondering if I could use these with a regular nylon web halter? I'm tempted to go ahead and get one of the halter/bit hanger combinations, but 1. I really can't shell out the bucks right now (I've gone through four headstalls in the past few months, none of which I really like for varied reasons) and 2. I've never seen Biothane in preson and would like to start with a smaller item before I plunge into buying a lot of it. I'm worried about the bolt snap, I don't know if that would rub my horse snapped directly onto the halter ring. Does anyone have any experience, or advice on this? I've been using a Columbian bosal, but switched to a light leather noseband, fleece lined hackamore for the upcoming hot, sticky summer months. Thanks for any input.
