Maggie, lighten up a bit. There are definitions in any sport. A 10K
is not a marathon; and a 25 mile ride is not an endurance ride. That
doesn't mean either can't be a real challenge or a real achievement
for a particular person. My first wife Robbie had a bad heart,
climbing one flight of stairs left her cyanotic and out of breath --
and I was proud as punch the day she completed a 25 mile ride! My
wife Kay is disabled and has no hope of ever riding 50 miles, but
with real grit she managed to get through a 25 and again, I was
extremely proud of her for her achievement. It took more effort and
determination on her part than for most of us to do a 100. But she
would never claim to have completed an endurance ride, any more than
she would claim to have competed a marathon if she didn't run 26.2
miles (which would be impossible for her, she can't run 50 feet).

People have different limits and goals. Recognizing that 25 mile
rides and 50-mile-and-up rides are very different events is not
cutting anyone down.
