The rides that would be within maybe two hours of trailering (3 hours, tops)
for you would be Warner Springs (if Terry puts it on again), Camp Pendleton,
Manzanita, Mt Laguna, Casper Park, Norco Riverdance, Oak Springs if that
happens again, Malibu and Sunland.  The Ridgecrest rides are maybe another
hour.  Temecula is a very pretty, horsey area and central to a BUNCH of
rides.  If you can trailer out, there are tons of trails and the mountains
below Idyllwild are spectacular, some of the prettiest (and non-desert)
riding in So Cal.  There's another ride that Terry puts on up there in the
mtns, but can't remember the name of it.  You're within a reasonable
trailering distance of mountains, flat, rolling foothills and desert---even
pretty close to riding the beaches down at Del Mar.  This is one of the
areas covered by the TOPO! CD-rom, so you can find all the trails that way.
It's a VERY nice area to ride in.  We live 2 hours north, but sometimes we
trailer all the way down there to ride just because it's so pretty.  We're
going to be moving our main homestead south and Temecula is probably where
we'll end up as well.
