How do some of you accomplish feeding more that twice a day, I know you are all busy people.........pay someone...buy feeders that run on timers.....etc????? They pig out at first on this sort of program, but in the long run I find that I feed less tonnage in a free-feed program than I do when feeding meals. I'm sure there are some horses too piggy to adjust, but have not yet run into any here. I feed "big" bales--the 800# sort that you just put out in the field for them--but you can accomplish the same thing with feeders. One caution about feeders, though--I don't like the variety that are up in the air, as it is easier for horses to get hay fines in their eyes, inhale dust, etc. than when they eat closer to ground level.
