Mt. bikers and trail maintenance

Saab, the auto company, sponsors not one but two IMBA teams
(International Mountain Bike Association) that do nothing but drive
around the USA, drumming up interest amongst bikers to do trail
maintenance work, with careful publicity, of course. It sure impresses
the land managers. My husband gets all the bike magazines and stuff and
I check them out too, gotta keep tabs on the "opposition" <bg>
Our Marin County Parks&Open Space Dept. has a super volunteer program
going, saves thousands of hours of ranger time. Work parties on our open
space lands (trail building and/or trail maintenance) are scheduled and
printed up in a little bulletin, along with stories and pictures of work
parties and Plenty of names named, credit given, and people sign up by
the dozen for these work parties (fun, really!).
My husband gave me a bitty chain saw for Christmas once...I must have
stressed the wrong words, I'm sure I was only mentioning about a "gold
chain that I saw"..... This year he gave me a horse vacuum, and wheeee,
what a breeze to groom my mudpies, especially when my ol' asthma bug is
biting! Cheers, Connie B (CA)
