Yes, Mike, there is a lot to be said for keeping it simple. I, too, think
that a structure for regular, lifetime, and "student" (in our case, read
"junior") would work just fine, but would still allow for a family membership,
too. Remember, most professional organizations (of which I also am a member
of several) are not involved in areas where there is any family participation
to speak of, whereas our sport is definitely appealing to families, and we
should encourage that. I do agree that there is likely not enough difference
in our "family" dues now as compared to our "single" dues, but certainly two
members of the same household should also not have to pay two single
memberships... The only changes I would like to see would be a tad more
difference between the single and family, the instituting of a "junior" fee
for the kids who do NOT have a family umbrella, and yes, would definitely like
to see a lifetime membership available for a fee--say, maybe 10x what the
single fee is, or 10x the family fee for a family. That was made as a one-
time offer to raise some money several years ago, but I think it would be a
good thing to continue to offer.
