Saddle blanket/pad question

Does anybody use the foam pad with wool top and rubberized bottom on
endurance rides?  The rubber bottom makes/lets the horse sweat.  If so,
do you like it or does it seem too hot?  If it is too hot, would a
navajo wool blanket underneath help it?

Also, if the saddle fits well, would a navajo wool blanket alone be
sufficient under the saddle?
