3rd Rita(don't know last name) from WVA -- Just a comment on accomplishments: This horse and rider team was involved in a MAJOR vehicle accident a little over a year ago....rider, husband and horse almost didn't survive.  The horse was injured so badly that animal control officials at the scene started to put the horse down.  Rita and her husband were air lifted to a nearby trauma center........what a comeback for all!

10th Yvette Vinton from canada riding Toad(also a Jan Worthington horse).  I crewed for Yvette.  She finished at 1am.

 

It was a TOUGH ride.....hot and humid....over 80 degrees and then extremely foggy that evening.  I know for sure of 13 who finished(13th place by the way was a Trakaner from canada -- that's a pretty good accomplishment in VA!).  When I went to bed there was still one guy from UAE out on trail.  There was talke that some would be pulled 'cause they were too slow but don't know for sure if they did or not.  20 finishers out of 60 starters is probably about right.  I'm sure that when everything calms down at VTCI there will be some info.  I'm sure that putting on a ride of that caliber has to be an organizational night mare and before you all go putting it down.....who out there is willing to put that amount of their time and effort into such an event.....we are loosing rides as it is.....don't knock it til you try it!
