welsh cobs

Tamara dear - this is not the welsh cob ring. While you will hear that
arabians are probably best for endurance on this list, you wont find
people saying that other breeds cannot do endurance. I have heard
some positive posts about welsh cobs in endurance here - cant recall
hearing any negavtive ones. So why did you direct your somewhat long
spiel to us rather than the welsh cob ring?

Teresa

P.S. The common consensus of what makes arabians better for endurance
is that they can go faster w/o overheating and losing time to recover
at gates into holds - obviously not a concern for competive trail ride
situations where the pace is not so high and higher emphasis is placed
on soundness -down to swelling in the legs not just an affected gait, vs.
going faster than anyone else and recovering quick so as not to loose
time at holds. Probably also less of a factor in the UK since the
weather is not often very hot there.
