Correction and LD Rules

In my post about the New Member's Discount, there was a typo for the AERC
phone number. The correct number is 530-823-2260. e'mail to
aerc@foothill.net

Remember, New AERC memberships have a 25% discount, paid by our Sponsor,
SUNDOWNER TRAILERS, INC. This is the best deal in the horse industry and
allows everyone who has thought about joining AERC the opportunity do so
at a significant savings.

As to the proposed LD Rules Changes, if you look at the Midyear Board
Meeting minutes, you will see that the distance change requires a Bylaws
change, thus the membership must vote on this issue before it can be
approved. If the membership votes against the change, then the "non
member fee" and/or requirement to be a member of AERC to enter a "fun
ride" becomes a mute point.
So, democracy in action will approve or negate this issue...not the Board
Action.

The Bylaws change does not affect the motion that LD Riders must either
pay a non member fee or be a member of AERC. Personally, I think this is
right and the new member discount program for 1999 and 2000 greatly
lessens the impact to the rider. When AERC enacted the original Non
Member Fee, I was adamantly against it, led the charge against it, and
voted against it. I have learned that it has had no negative impact on
the rides and about 90% of the non member riders want to join AERC rather
than pay the non member fee, and those who do pay the non member fee
don't complain about it.
