The panting in this case is not likely an indication of respiratory problems, but of body cooling! As long as the heart rate is down, and all other signs are good, this shouldn't be a problem. I have seen this same 'problem' disqualify a very fit horse in a NATRC ride though...

What do you call: the allotted time for his pulse to come down? I've seen many
horses pant, but not when all is well! Don't understand why he would do this
if his heart rate was down, say to 60 or better yet, to about 45. Tell us
more.
