windpuffs

I have a problem/question for everyone: My horse Buck had windpuffs on/near
both hind fetlocks when I bought him and this has never created any problems
for me. The last week and a half or so I have not been able to ride (I
already whined about that and the lost shoe and lack of Easyboots...), but
Buck has been outside in the pasture all of this time. When I brought him to
the barn this past weekend I noticed that the area where the windpuff is
looked more puffy than normal (Only on one leg though, not both). Even with
the windpuff the tendon that goes down the back of the leg always went in a
straight line from hock to fetlock with only a very tiny bulge at the
windpuff that was not very noticeable at all. Now there is a much more
noticeable bulge. He is not lame and it doesn't hurt him when I touch that
area. I only feel a little bit of heat on the inside of the fetlock. Anyone
know what this could be? Since the farrier can only come this week to
replace the lost shoe, Buck is still out in the pasture. If he had been in a
stall all this time, I might have thought he was just stocking up, but this
would seem a little strange since he was outside all this time (It's a
pretty big area where he is and even if he doesn't spend all his time
running around, he does walk around quite a bit grazing) and it's only in
one leg. Help!
