not necessairly so-- see Dr Lovings book and papers on WHY the full BAR
shoe is the best choice for the endurnace horse.. LOTS of good heel
support and less problems with suspension parts.. 
ie the Equithotics SNEAKER.. still the best shoe we ever used..
