trucks - short life story

Steph,

My husband has had 3 ford diesels in the last 4 1/2 years. The only reason
why he's had so many is because the leases run out. My father'-in-law has the
93 version left over from my husband. My husband tried a Chevy for 2 weeks
then, ended up leasing a 350 crew cab turbo diesel 4WD in 94. Of Course, he
'rednecked' it out; big tires ( I have to be a math expert to tell how fast
I'm going), huge bumpers, headache rack (he added this after the tracks off
the bulldozer bent the bed in front). We put over 100,000 miles on it by the
time the 2 year lease was up. He 'downsized' to the 250 crew cab short bed
diesel 4WD in 96. Again, big tires, big bumpers, headache rack (with built in
lights) :-) and over 100,000 miles. We didn't trade this one in because I
wanted it. I love growling down the road in my big green/white monster. Any
way, my husband and his family have a trucking company, you know the one's
with 18 wheels with a trailer. I think he should know a little something
about diesel engines. The only thing he has done to it is add an 'air to
air' which gave me horse power. Both of us have hauled dozers, hunting
trucks, cars, horses, boats, fully loaded dirtbike trailers, etc. You name
it, if we haven't hauled it, I'll sure try. :-) After my husband gave me the
Ford, he went and bought a Dodge in September of 97, by February of 98 he is
driving a GMC Z71. However, whenever we go anywhere, we take my truck. Being
down here in this Texas heat, I like the great AC Fords have. It almost puts
frost on the windows. ;-) I work for my husbands best friend and whenever you
come over to the office it looks like one big Ford Diesel convention; We have
10 here at the office. In October of 96, my husband and his friends loaded the
4 horse gooseneck and went to Colorado to hunt Elk. If any of you have a
serious hunter for a spouse, you know the kind of gear they have to have (plus
the beer for 1 week), well times that by 4 plus 15-114 qt ice chests (empty
going up/ loaded coming back, I think they actually bought more ice chests
while they were there) I can't tell you how many elk they brought back but I
can say that after almost 2 years most of San Antonio is still cooking with
elk meat. I guess 1 elk is about equal to, if not more, than an average
horse. They pulled all of this throught Raton Pass without a flinch.
As you can see I am a Ford Fan; I was brought up in a Chevy family but
never owned one for myself.

     Happy truck hunting!
