Re: Truck question - Ford power stroke vs. Dodge cummins

Hi Steph,

I have a 1997 Ford F-350 Powerstroke. I pull a 26' Featherlite (8800
pounds, unloaded). I've pulled it with up to four horses with all our tack
and junk. I've been very, very pleased with it and it's power. In fact, my
husband and I marvel at how well it does on hills and such... helps pass the
time when we are driving (we are easily entertained, what can I say). I
also heard wonderful things about the Cummins engine. Went with the Ford
Powerstroke mainly for two reasons... A. In 1997 (don't know about now)
Dodge did not offer four doors and I needed them and, B. I visited several
internet boards dedicated to RV fanciers and they pretty much preferred the
Ford over the Dodge. I will say, there was always an ongoing friendly
battle over "My Ford is better than your Dodge!" and vice-versa. Just
perhaps it's a matter of comparing apples to oranges and it just boils down
to creature comforts and preference. I've only had my Ford for 14 months,
but in that time I have not had a moments trouble out of it and have only
had it in for routine maintenance.

Susan
