Rocky Mountain Ride & USFS

Greetings!
For all the problems horse enthusiasts seem to be having with the
US Forest Service in many areas, including some districts around here in
Colorado, kudos to the Laramie Ranger District of the Medicine Bow/Routt
National Forest in southern Wyoming for their support of having horses in
the forests and good, well marked trails to ride on. Not only did they do
the work for permitting the Rocky Mountain Ride (with three other
districts, another national forest, and Colorado State Forest State Park)
last (and this) year, including a full environmental assessment, they have
approved permanent trail markers for approximately 4/5 of the 275 mile
course (to be installed before the ride this August), and are taking the
lead in finding and clearing a new 8-10 mile trail on Day Two - "Gus Ehlin
& Cinnabar" that will greatly improve the ride!
The Laramie Ranger District welcomes horseback riders, and supports
endurance - a nice change for the USFS! If you want to ride in the
Medicine Bows, besides doing the Rocky Mountain Ride, contact Jeff Wallace,
Elrand Denson, Clarke McClung, Vern Bentley, Lisa Marno or Wendy Keeler at
307-745-8971 or write them at: USFS, Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest,
Laramie Ranger District, 2468 Jackson St., Laramie, WY 82070.

Happitrails!
Brad.
