Re: Endurance News

I'd go a step farther.  Not only does she imply that REAL endurance riders don't "do RideCamp", but that anyone that does has no right to opinions or even any valid viewpoint on the world of horses.  ONLY if you've done 50,000 miles and are over 60 is your word worth anything?

I don't think so.  I totally respect the opinions of the more experienced riders, and listen, and try to fit what they say with my own world/horse views.  I don't always agree, and that's why RideCamp is so valuable.  If someone's been doing something the same way for 60 years, they may have a good thing going, or they may simply be closed minded, in which case, RideCamp is certainly not for them.  The flip side is, there are numerous "elder" statesmen/stateswomen who have seen fit to share some of their expertise via RideCamp.

If I'd started endurance without Ridecamp, I'd be one of those idiots everyone on Ridecamp complains about.  Instead, I have a 4th grade education in a 12 grade school .  The quality of technical information that we've had from regular contributors is incredible, and frankly, I feel sorry for the folks that can't seem to make the time for riding AND RideCamp...

I was really perturbed (is that a word?) after reading that article. I really felt that she put down RideCamp and the people on it.
Very perceptive! Yes, Maggy Price did put down RideCampers. Was there a viable reason for this? She intimated that if you're sitting at your computer......you're not out riding .....thus can't possibly have as much to contribute to the sport of endurance as those who just ride.

Well......I never would have been a member of AERC or gotten into endurance riding to begin with if it hadn't been for RideCamp! Thanks to all of you who unselfishly give of your time to this forum. RideCamp is worth its weight in gold......not to mention a few training hours.  But, hey....I just rode for 5 hours...and am now enjoying my daily dose of RideCamp. (the pony-boy has to eat sometime!)
