I'm not a member of AERC but may eventually be. I rode the bell cow lake ride this past weekend and enjoyed myself. I often ride 10 miles or greater on weekends and just this weekend got interested in endurance type riding and the people that do it. I like distance riding, usually at a walker pace.
The terrain is fairly easy. There are a few curves and swithcbacks that will require slow traffic. Otherwise there seems to be a good many places to pass. The type of horse I ride lends itself to turning on the trail easily, I don't know how a trotting horse will do. The trail is partially wooded and pretty nice.
There are good facilities also.

Please pass along words to the wise for a beginner.
some info:
Mare , 6 yrs old, good condition, Tenn. Walker,
average to slight build, carries about 225 pounds of rider and gear when I'm up(I know, that's alot so I should lose a little).
Thanks,
