Re: Sole of foot puncture wound(off topic)

To Mz and everyone who wrote me, THANKS!
Heidi told me to go out and give him the pennicillin shot, put an easyboot
on so I did that. Other things I did, soaked in warm epsoms salts,
poulticed it first day. Second day: I soaked him again in epsoms salts,
put a thin sponge saturated with iodine in the bottom of the easyboot this
time, no poultice. Then drove him to the vet, he got another tetanus
shot/all spring shots too, you have 48 hours from the time he got the wound
to get it. My vet said we needed to carve out the puncture wound so it
would drain. He was getting lamer because pressure was building up and
even if that didn't happen right away it would of in a few days then
abcessed. So she carved out a dime size hole all the way to the meat of
his foot so it will drain. We packed some iodine goo in it, gauzed it,
duct taped that then put back on the easyboot. Penicillan for 5 days 2x's
a day. I am leaving the shoe and pad off until I can ride him again and
just keeping the easy boot on. I will pad him when I do put the shoe back
on, but I pad anyway.

Prognosis: I should be back in the saddle in 2 weeks. He should stop
limping in the next couple days, I can ride when the soft tissue gets hard
again. She said he had nice feet <vbg> it took over 1/2" of carving to get
through his sole, thick soles. Now if I can only find a blacksmith to take
care of those nice feet! Anyone if Phx area have a good one I can call?
