Capillary Refill

Ok, had a great ride this weekend, despite the rain:{ Did a 30 miler that
the head vet made sure we didn't think was an endurance ride. But more
about that later! Anyway my guy Blue finished nicely, had good marks on
what they did mark and started with a 1.5 on cap refill and ended with a 4.
How could he get a good on hydration and a 4 on refill? I electrolyted
him at the start and at the vet check, 1 oz each time and he drank ok after
about 10 miles. He dosen't drink as much in rainy weather. I had a TON of
horse coming in at the end of the 30 and his p&r's were super. So why the
low cap refill? One thought I had was that we had to stand forever in the
freezing rain in a long line, at a camp where we couldn't get our gear
into, while the vetted the 50's, no matter how much later they came in then
us, into vet first. My guy and my team members horses' were shivering up a
storm. Could that lower cap refill time???

So what do ya think gang? Did I electrolyte too much and dehydrate him or
where the conditions effecting him?
