I just received the Feb/March Endurance News and thought I would mention some
of the items that seem pertinent to the discussions that have taken place on
ridecamp.
1. A LD survey that had been published in EN is being tabulated. It appears that
35%
of all endurance starts are limited distance. The is a request for regional and
national BC
awards and BC judging standards similar to those used in the 50 mile rides.
Suggested that a non-member fee be assessed for LD riders. Sent to committee
with a proposal to be brought the midyear meeting.
2. Pro-rated membership fees will be instituted for 1/2 year memberships(after June
1)
with a cost for single $35, family $40 plus $5 for each additional member.
3. Drug rule changes approved for rides where the use of additional therapies during
competition shall be prohibited. This includes any invasive procedures(acupuncture),
manipulative procedures(osseous manipulative - I assume chiropractic ), the use of
any devices to manipulate or simulate acupressure response points(Bioscans,
laser lights, magnetic stimulation devices etc.). Competition shall mean from the
time
of the pre-ride vet exam to the completition of the final vet exam including BC
judging.
4. The fee schedule pertaining to the $10 horse registration fee where new members
dues would include the registering of one horse per member was adopted. Only for
first time members.
5. A 50 mile division was added to the National series. Effective for 1999
