Equine Endurance Thrills

Well, since we have strayed a bit far off the well marked
endurance trail, I suggest something that has come up on Equine-l.

Tell your story. What gives you the biggest trill at an endurance
ride? (It's what is your thrill with horses over on Equine-l, but
we should try to get back on topic now:-)

Mine?

I get all smug and joyfull at the start of a ride. All these
horses milling about. All these riders trying to keep their
horses quiet. And Drake just standing there, quiet, feet not
moving, listening to me. And I can look down on the the rider
that has the uncontrollable horse and ask them to move away
from me rather than run into me.

Of course, come the actual start, Drake does take it into his head
to be first, even if I don't want him to.
