Hi Debbie    From personal viewing the food of choice at the WEC was 

lbs. and lbs. of carrots(from Aust. ) and apples ( Wash State)
every  variety hay the Shiek had to offer from all parts of the world - at
least 6  
Wheat Bran  Mash
Rice Bran
Beet Pulp in various forms
seven (at least) varieties of sweet feed 
oats
Chaff   ( chopped hay and  all kinds of stuff )  from England
Hay that riders brought from home
grain riders brought from home
Jet -  green alfalfa the horses loved
and on trail Sam for one ate alot of Camel grass and every squashed bush he
found at the P stops
It was a virtual smorgasborgh !!!!!!!!!
