According to an article in one of the horse mags this last year(sorry, I 
don't remember,it's at home--I can find it if necessary) the Nez Perce 
indians are breeding Akhal-Teke's with their Appaloosa horses in an 
effort to bring the breed back to what the original apps were before all 
of the out-crossing, i.e. hardy, ENDURING horses with great 
dispositions.
