The Akhal-Teke is a russian breed, bred for endurance and their metallic
color.  Some say the Arab is actually a decendant of the Akhal-teke.  They are
built a little more like a TB, but have the stamina of the Arab.  But...their
color is so different, I don't know why they'd be used for breeding of the
appy to recreate the original type.
