Somewhere in this endless debate, it was pointed out that a helmet won't protect you from a fractured spine. True enough.
Still, I was glad I was wearing my helmet when I fractured my spine this spring. It beat hell out of having a fractured skull as well.
(Horse hit a solid jump, I got catapulted over it, landed on my head and did a triple somersault...)
