CA Heartland Tevis TV coverage and HTML

I finally managed to catch the bit done on Bob Marx and Monty
at this year's Tevis on "California Heartland" on TV last
night.

It was wonderful. Just not long enough!!! Waaaa. Wanted
more and more... (talk about a junkie).

It sent me into a downward spiral of "Tevis thoughts"
which resulted in not much sleep... sigh. Like I say,
"junkie"... Hmmm, I know I said I'd try and aim to do it
in 2000, but I wonder if I could get him ready for this
coming year...? hmmmm (it's cheating when you can train
on the same trails, but I need the extra help...).

I think the thing it caught for me was the whole
atmosphere - the heat and the dust and the scenery...
and those canyons!

(we rode Volcano Canyon (one of the "wimpier" canyons) on
Saturday, and poor Provo was puffing like a fish. Lucky
we took along someone who's horse was even less fit, so
we could pretend we were waiting for him...<grin>)

So many pieces to put together into one big piece that
lasts 24 hours.

Gives me stomach ache thinking about it - how am I supposed
to be able to eat *during* the event if just *thinking* about
it nine months ahead of a "maybe", sends me into eating freeze?
(hey, I could get thin on this!).

The trick is probably "put together the little pieces into one
big piece". Keep dipping into the munchy bag, little and often...

I think this is the first time in my life that I've ever wanted
to do something that would take me over a year's preparation to
just *think* about doing it. Kind of scary to look at it that
way - so many potential pitfalls along the way (like Lauren (?)
said recently, can you even keep the horse sound?). We'll see
how it goes...

* * *

Oh, with that non-sensical rave out of the way, I wanted to
mention - some people may not *realise* that they're sending
out HTML messages, and how to change it/turn it off if they
are. I know when I started using Netscape as my mailer, I
didn't realise that I was sending them out (until my husband
started complaining). To turn them off in Netscape, you can
go to:

Edit - Preferences - Messages

and unclick the "By default send HTML messages" square.

With other mailers, I'm sure there is a similar thing - just
a case of poking around to find it.

Worth doing - because HTML messages really don't make any sense
at all when you're reading mail in plain text...

Thanks
