ridecamp@endurance.net: Treatment vet

Treatment vet

A couple people have asked if there is always a separate treatment
vet.

What I've seen around here - ride management will hire just enough
vets for the ride. If all the vet checks are back at base camp,
that means only 1 or 2 are needed to do general checks. Then,
ride management will hire one more vet. This vet will help out
with the vet checks, but should a horse need help, this is the
vet that will leave the regular checking to the other vets, and
concentrate solely on the sick or injuried horse. So, at most
rides, you won't be able to tell who the "treatment" vet is
and who the check vets are. If you know the vets, you might
be able to tell. Also, the treatment vet is usually the most
experience horse and endurance vet.
