I knew that when I started to do 50's with Misty I would be riding her for
a while. I did want to breed her, but didn't want a 15 yo maiden mare. So
I bred her when she was 8. I was concerned about riding her so I asked my
personal vet and Jeannie Waldorn. They both said the same thing, to do
what you are now doing as long as the mare is comfortable but not to move
up, i.e. if you are doing LD's don't start 50, etc.

We were doing 25's at that time at an easy 2.5 to 3 hour clip. So I backed
off to a 3 to 3.5 hour clip and continued to do LD's. I did about three
with her until she was 7 months. At that point she starting to get a
little uncomfortable so I baked off from the rides.

I think you can do it but a) there can be no problems and b) you should
slow down.
