Parameters & Endurance Topics

In the post from Dr. Sarah Ralson regarding the Mustang Memorial 50, we
learned that the Pulse had been set 56 parameter.

Why can't MOST rides (particularly flat ones) have lower pulse parameters?
I'd be very interested in learning whether the other vet criteria "scores"
would be higher if the pulse requirements were lower.

NOTE: Shouldn't make much difference in how the race turns out -- the
really fit ones will recover faster and still win. HOWEVER, I'd think a lot
more of the not so fit ones might have a complete training day, rather than
an abbreviated one because, although they recovered to the 64, the rest of
the horse was over ridden.

RE: Endurance topics -- please don't restrict discussion too much. I would
think that any topic that helps a rider select a horse, condition it, get to
a competition and ride that competition with a sound helathy horse should
all be relevant.
