monitoring horses temperature

Is anyone on the list using one of those under the saddle temperature
monitors? Grey Moun gets chilled easily and because of this I think I held
off on sponging him some times when I should have this summer. Does anyone
use a regular horse thermometer at holds instead? I have decided that if it
is warm at all I should take all opportunities to sponge him on the trail,
but I would like to have some extra input to decide if I should sponge him
at the start of a hold (it really sucks not to be able to hold a place in
a vet line because you have to keep a cold horse moving.)

Thanks for any product comments or general advice,

Teresa
