Lakota is exactly the opposite -- his favorite place to canter is across
the middle of a large grassy field, whereas I have to KICK him into a
canter on closed-in or short-view trails -- and squeeze every step to keep
him in a canter. And it doesn't matter whether there are other horses
with us or not, or what speed they are going. Lakota chooses his own
speed, period. When riding on a dirt road, he wants to ride right down
the absolute middle, equi-distant from the woods/grass/brush on either
side, while I try to keep him to one side so we don't get run over by cars
-- consequently we weave alot and look like both of us have been drinking
<g>.

Glenda & Lakota (why ride on the side and leave all that empty space in
the middle?)
