While Star and I are a very green ER team, I would like to offer a =
little different viewpoint, maybe it is not so much the horses attitude =
as the riders. We went through a period of trying to be in front all the =
time, and several of the other problems. I finally realized that my =
attention was wandering to the other horses. It was more a matter of my =
concentration than hers. To address this, I began trying to anticipate =
the situation, and then to focus on my horse, getting her attention on =
me, rather than on whatever else was going on. I have found I can get =
her attention by picking up the reins, moving her position on the trail, =
changing gaits, or simply talking to her. It has taken time, and we =
still have occasional lapses, but it really works for us.

I will qualify this a little, Star is a very eager to please, 15 yr old =
Foxtrotter, and is responsive to rein, body position or voice cues. Your =
actual mileage may vary, depending on your horses temperament & =
responsiveness.=20
