Drinking when Hot

(I know a couple of riders who down a few cold ones on a hot day;-)

When riding, training, competiting, let the horse drink as much as
they want - AS LONG as you keep them moving. So, you are treking along,
come to a spring, let the horse have a nice long pull, and then you
are off again.

When you come to the last check, you are going to cool your horse off.
Let the horse drink some, and then walk him. Let the horse drink more
and walk him.

The worst, which does cause colic and such, is to take a hot horse,
drop him off in a closed stall, and walk away. The horse will
drink from the tank, and then stand there. I know there is no one
of this list who would do that, but there are some really dumb folks
who think it is ok.
