Using tungstene grip on shoes

Hi again,
My new gelding Orpheo has the very bad habit of slipping where my other horses normally don't. I still have to understand why : at this time I have the impression, but still to be confirmed, that this is because he doesn't engage his hindquarters enough and I plan to do lots of exercices in a closed arena during this winter in order to improve the way he collects.

He doesn't have much heel, and my farrier is curretly trying to improve that, but as you can understand, this takes time and he is still on his second shoes.

I'm considering asking my farrier to put tungstene grip on the shoes, what I usually NOT do with my other horses because at the time we are on asphalt(which happens on 5% on our endurance rides here), I'm very cautious and watch what we are doing.

With Orpheo, I think this would be better, but I'm afraid on the possible effect on his tendons, because this doesn't permit any sliding any more.

Here in Europe, lots of riders actually are putting grips... What about the States?
