Is there a truly waterproof, warm blanket on the market?

Now is the season for Canadians to envy you Americans who live outside
winter country.

It's pouring tonight. One of the toughest times for our horses is the cold
rains of autumn. When it gets somewhat colder and drier and snowy (for the
next 5 months!) they are far less chilly.

The little Arab has a Big D blanket which was bought in desperation-he
arrived with no winter coat and it was, surprize! raining. Big D fits
Quarter horse phyiques quite well but is too big in the neck and not high
enough cut in the neck for his slight shape. No complaints about the
toughness or the way it stays on. However after only one year it is no
longer very waterproof. We have only trees and an overhang by the old hay
barn for shelter from rain/snow and the Arabian underdog is lucky if he
gets a corner. So a blanket is needed. The polar fleece liner works well
but its surcingles were feeble and tore off pronto. I bought rain sheets
to go with this and neither were waterproof-resistant is putting it
politely. And this little horse is easy on blankets other than rolling in
them.

I'm willing to pay a fair amount for a high quality blanket with insulation
(or insulated liner) that will remain waterproof more than one winter! Any
Canadian mail order sources would be appreciated. Is there any blanket
company that gives a warrantee, I'm tired of spending money with no
come-back, other than tedious and expensive legal stuff, on companies who
advertise these blankets that don't live up to their billing.

Ann with
the little Arab laid up with a pucture at the coronary band-bandaged and
blanketed and smug under a bit of the overhang
and the Antique Appy furry and smug also under the overhang with no other
competion for dry space other than that wimpy Arab
and the Welsh/Quarter horse fat and wet and aggressive and truly ticked off
to be out in the big pasture tonight in the rain and be damned if I'm going
over to the trees I'll stand here in the open and pout
and the Fjord draft mares and filly who appear almost oblivious to weather
and stand out even if the overhang is vacant
