Hi, Nina--

You have already got some good advice from this group on your white hair
problem; hopefully your saddle will work out. But I'm just curious:
what sort of dressage saddle is it? I had a similar problem with mine
(an Albion) and found that my problem was widespread with this
particular saddle. I had white hairs on the withers plus dry spots on
her back and saddle pad so I knew something was wrong. (But also no real
soreness). The saddlemaker who made my horse's new saddle said he'd
seen the same problem in lots of Albion users. He thought they were too
wide in the tree. Another theory I've heard is that the stirrup bars are
set in a way that pokes the horse through the bottom of the saddle. (My
horse's white hairs were indeed just inside the stirrup bars.) It may
be the Albions are great for dressage but not for hills.

If you don't have an Albion, disregard above (but I'd be curious to
know).

Eileen
