Thanks all for responding both in private and on the list. Due to starting
a new job I won't be back on my QH till Sunday and will try alot of the
advice given. My husband is going to make a vet apointment to check her
eyes and Mag. level. I hope that this will help. To give a little more
info. she is 9, has been on the ranch since my parents got her at auction
since she was 1 or 2. She has always been scared of crops and lunge whips,
and things flying anywhere near her head and saddling was tricky until I
learned not to place the blanket and saddle at her head but next to her
side. She doesn't mind if I just toss it on her back. I have been working
her for about a year and a half and I can finaly touch her ears. She truly
spooks - head up, trys to rear, and trys to bolt. Hopefully the John Lyons
method will work although Richard Shrake method didn't. Riding between 2
bomb proof horses worked at first but after the 1st mini-van roared by we
were back to rearing and trying to bolt. Unfortunatly keeping her moving
forward isn't a problem. By the time we headed down the rode to home she
was shaking and sweating. My arms-she's in an eggbutt snaffle- and legs
were so tired that I a friend ponied us back. She was so nervous that
crossing the irrigation canal, normally not a problem, caused her to bury
her head into my friend's horse's neck and shook our way over it. Thanks
again for the great advice and I'll let you know how we turn out.
