horsethieves

I have had too much to do and not enough to do it, which is why I am
responding to Thursdays post about horse thieves.

Here in Thurston county, WA, we had a rash of horse AND tack thefts. The
thieves were bold and brazen, and knew horses. They'd walk into a barn in
broad daylight to steal tack, and cut fence during the day, load the horses
and go.

Unfortunately, the recovery rate is virtually nil..one person I knew lost
all but ONE of her saddles, and that saddle had her dad's name stamped in
huge letters on the panels. (western saddle).
As for protecting our horses from theft..........fences keep out honest
people. Dogs with attitudes are great, but if you post a beware of dog sign
you are letting yourself in for a lawsuit.
Maybe if we were to hang a few of the thieves that are caught might deter
them. And use an old rope..............

prior to hanging.............)
