Response To Equine theft

We (the local horse people) had everyone alerted within 24 hours. We have
more info on the truck, ran the plates. It doesn't match the make of truck,
and is registered to an obscure company based out of Central PA with a
regional office in a little town about 6 miles away. But no one seems to
know anything about them, which is strange in our area, everyone is either
related, works with, or knows everyone else. So we are doing more snooping.
Also, our paper is doing a story on this. They are impressed with the speed
that the horse community pulled everything together, as well as the
investigative abilities!

My local club has taken this to heart, motion detector lights have been
installed, dogs turned out most of the time, horses in for the night, guns
by the bedside to name a few measures. Others are looking at branding also.
These thieves are taking a chance. Everyone, included most the women, own
and use guns. We hunt, and are pretty good shots. Most of us have a .45 or
.357 besides deer rifles. And a lot of these country folks don't give a
hoot about worrying what someone will say. In fact, they often joke, "Make
sure ya kill 'em, so they can't sue."

I wonder if these guys realize what they're up against?! <G>
