You're not the only one by a longshot, Helga. With the price of
horsemeat being in the eighty to ninety cents a pound range, we see a
lot of that here in Nevada. We have two sales that handle killer horses
right here in Fallon. Most of them are range horses, but sometimes it
makes me wonder when I see horses that look like they just came out of
someone's show barn.
I had my horse in a field with 51 others a few years back and one
morning found the fence which ran behind the hardware store along the
highway had had all five strands of barbed wire cut and there were tire
tracks. Fortunately, it was a hundred acre pasture and the horses were
tough to herd unless you knew which horse was alpha. We didn't lose a
single one and found the hole in the fence before anyone got out. Good
luck catching whomever it was, and in the meantime, lock up everything!
