I would like to add to this and experience I had by Alder Flats
Alberta. This area is saturated with PMU barns.
We were out riding and came upon a stallion who had been torn apart by
the larger stallions in the field. His neck was so torn up you could see
muscle and it was infested with fly maggots. His body was covered in
scars and bite marks. He was a 1/4 horse type in with the big draft
stallions. I called the SPCA and reported this. I was very disappointed
to find out that the SPCA cannot enter the barns or property of a PMU
operation unless a complaint has been lodged. In other words they are
powerless to protect these horses.
I personally refuse to take premarin and spend alot of time nagging my
mother and friends to refuse to take it.
