Oboy, this is right up my alley as I am dealing with the same thing with my
14 year old mare. I am currently undergoing the Adequan treatment of seven
injections. Yes, it is a little costly, but for me it is worth it for the
love of my mare. My vet explained to me that if results weren't seen within
the first three injections, the treatment would be discontinued and there
would likely be nothing more we can do. She is responding well. She will
never endurance again, but she will continue to be a trail horse for the rest
of her natural life. I also have her on a daily dose of C-Flex which is
chondroitin sulfate. She has one joint that is particularly bad due to a
previous injury. We gave her two cortisone injections directly into the
joint.

Can you put a price on your horse? I have already exceeded what I ever
thought I would do for her and I have not regretted a single penny of it. In
the past I have put horses down for various reasons and still wonder to this
day if there was something else I could have, should have done. If you can
make your decision with no regret, then it is the right decision for you.
Good luck.

Joyce
