unsolicited postings on Ridecamp

Hi group - regarding the nasty and unwanted posts that occasionally
make it into ridecamp:

Last month we went to a 'closed' list - this means you have to be a
subscriber to post messages. But this doesn't work 100% because
many subscribers 'look' like outsiders to the list because of their
email configuration, and many people can't subscribe for one reason
or another, but still like to do occasional posts. So our solution has
been to individually screen messages that bounce back because
they are not recognized as subscriber's post.=20

Enter the human error factor. Bengt (sysadmin) has been doing this
by hand and has let a few slip by... he's been trying to recover a few
of our hard-drives during the past 24 hours that were damaged due
to power outages (thunder storms)... so he may have stopped screening
for a bit, or maybe he just missed a few.

Anyway, we're doing our best to keep the list clean, but garbage
WILL slip through. Just please understand that there is only so
much we can do - accept our apologies for the junk - and be
patient!

Thanks,

Steph Teeter
