Maggie Price used to swear that "pee" would cure scratches!! (I leave it to
your imagination as to whose!!) Remember that the three day 100's don't
allow any "medication" during competition (nor does ECTRA, SEDRA, or NATRC).

Matthew Mackay-Smith has recommended drying them out.

I've used a combination -- but ended up treating as I would my own chapped
hands.

Moisten with something not too greasy -- lots of aloe -- so that the horse
can work comfortably.

Straigh Arrow's Hoof Maker (since it's such great hand cream) has worked,
but it can sting open sores.

Unless there were a rampant fly problem or a valid reason for wrapping, I'd
think that might prolong the problem.
